Research in Child
and Youth Resiliency
|
MHCD’s Evaluation and Research Team places a
special emphasis upon childhood resiliency,
research into childhood emotional distress, and
adolescent resiliency along with early
intervention and prevention.
Our team is creating an evaluation system for
children and youth similar to what we have for
adult recovery. This is a holistic system that
includes the perspective of multiple
stakeholders
Our model is based on several recommendations
proposed by Friesen (2007, p. 43)o:
|
 |
- Continue the
examination of relationship between
recovery, resiliency and systems of care
principles.
- Frame deliberation
regarding recovery within a public health
perspective, looking at how prevention and
early intervention are related to concepts
- Apply the phrase
“resilience and recovery,” not just
“recovery”
- Outcomes of mental
health services should be defined by youth
and families, and systems should be held
accountable for progress toward these
outcomes.
- Revise financial
mechanisms to support concepts
- Administration and
financial support for peer to peer (youth
and family) programs is crucial
- Additional input
should be sought, especially from youth and
families
The key to our evaluation
system includes the integration of three
concepts: System of Care, Resiliency, and
Recovery |
